Mission
We create the change needed in our community to end poverty.
Programs or services
1. The Choice Food Pantry and Mobile Pantry meet urgent food needs with dignity and provide a trusted entry point
for additional support. Families shop for nutritious food and household items in a grocery store-style setting. This
free food access reduces immediate financial strain and is an opportunity to connect families to ongoing services.
2. Cooperative Services "Co-op" Program provides personalized support to connect individuals with resources,
remove barriers to stability, and guide families through financial coaching and long-term planning.
3. English Classes strengthen language skills that improve job opportunities, increase workplace readiness, and help
families better support their children’s education and engage in the community.
4. Vehicle Services help families maintain reliable transportation, a critical requirement for employment, education,
and healthcare access.
5. Zero-interest Savings and Loans programs help families manage financial emergencies, avoid predatory lending,
and build long-term financial stability.
6. The Thrift Store provides affordable household essentials in a dignified shopping environment while generating
revenue that supports Grace Care Center’s programs.
Target Audience
Grace Care Center serves individuals and families throughout Central Indiana who are experiencing financial hardship and struggling to meet their basic needs. While some households we serve live below the federal poverty level, the majority are working families who fall into the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population. These individuals are employed and earning income, but their household resources are insufficient to consistently cover a basic budget that includes housing, childcare, transportation, healthcare, and nutritious food.

In 2025, Grace Care Center served nearly 12,000 individuals through our programs. Children represented 37% of individuals served, and more than half were working-age adults. The families we serve include working households struggling to make ends meet, seniors living on fixed incomes, single-parent households, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and new American families navigating language and cultural barriers.

Our Care Center Friends represent the many faces of financial hardship in our community. They include teachers' aides, medical assistants, childcare providers, retail and hospitality employees, warehouse workers, and other hardworking individuals who are often employed full-time, and sometimes working multiple jobs, yet remain one unexpected expense away from crisis. A medical bill, vehicle repair, reduction in work hours, or other life event can quickly disrupt a household’s stability.

Grace Care Center serves neighbors from communities throughout Central Indiana, including individuals whose primary languages include English, Spanish, Arabic, and many others. We intentionally create a welcoming environment, recognizing poverty impacts people across many ages, backgrounds, and circumstances, and we strive to meet each person with compassion, respect, and practical support.

In Hamilton County and surrounding communities, financial hardship is often hidden by the region’s overall prosperi
